Equipe VEGEO

Vue d’ensemble

Le principal objectif de VEGEO concerne la caractérisation et la modélisation des surfaces continentales, en termes de végétation et d’humidité des sols et de propriétés radiatives. L’observation satellitaire est au coeur des travaux de l’équipe.
Les axes de recherche de l’équipe VEGEO comprennent : i) l’élaboration de variables biogéophysiques (albédo, rayonnement solaire, aérosols,...) à partir de données satellitaires et leur validation ; ii) la modélisation et l’assimilation de données pour améliorer la représentation du cycle du carbone et de l’hydrologie de surface par le modèle ISBA dans la plateforme de modélisation SURFEX (https://www.umr-cnrm.fr/surfex/) ; iii) la conception de stratégies d’observation des surfaces continentales (in situ, aéroportées, par télédétection satellitaire) et l’analyse critique des observations ; iv) l’étude de l’impact du changement climatique sur les variables terrestres à méso-échelle.
L’équipe VEGEO a, au sein du CNRM, un rôle de référent en termes de produits de télédétection spatiale sur les surfaces continentales et des aérosols pour leur utilisation dans les modèles de prévision numérique du temps et de climat de Météo-France, notamment au travers de la coordination scientifique des évolutions d’ECOCLIMAP. Elle est en charge pour Météo-France du développement des produits albédo dans le LSASAF d’EUMETSAT et dans le cadre de COPERNICUS (CGLS, C3S).
Des systèmes d’assimilation de données adaptés aux surfaces continentales sont développés dans le but de piloter ISBA à partir d’observations satellitaires à diverses longueurs d’onde. L’assimilation de données satellitaires est mise en œuvre dans une chaîne de suivi des flux d’eau et de carbone sur la France et à l’échelle mondiale : LDAS (Land Data Assimilation System).
