Vue d’ensemble
L’équipe VEGEO du CNRM a été crée en janvier 2009. Le principal objectif de VEGEO est d’améliorer la représentation des surfaces continentales dans les modèles météorologiques, les modèles du climat, et les modèles hydrologiques. VEGEO mène une activité de modélisation, principalement axée sur la représentation du cycle du carbone et de l’hydrologie de surface et le modèle ISBA des surfaces continentales. VEGEO contribue au développement de l’observation des surfaces continentales à l’échelle régionale et globale, en développant des techniques d’observation in situ et par télédétection. L’équipe conçoit et réalise, en collaboration avec des laboratoires partenaires, des campagnes de mesure sur le terrain et aéroportées. Elle contribue à l’élaboration et à la validation d’algorithmes de produits satellitaires (albédo de surface, rayonnement incident, humidité du sol) à partir des données de diverses missions spatiales (METEOSAT, METOP, SMOS). Enfin, des systèmes d’assimilation de données adaptés aux surfaces continentales sont développés dans le but de piloter ISBA à partir d’observations satellitaires à diverses longueurs d’onde.
